I left the borg before learning all the TTAT and found this site some 12 years ago. I was just a lurker but it helped me understand I made the right decision.
A lot of wonderful people are long gone from this site but I enjoy digging up old posts and reading them.

Are you angry for having been a JW?
by Half banana ini remember seeing the ex-jws parading around outside the assembly like lepers holding placards of hate.
we were the righteous and enlightened ones... and they were lost in outer darkness.
just dont look at them was the standard response to their unwelcome presence..

I'm not angry. The religion didn't have too much of a negative impact on me or my family. But I can remember the days when I was in West Palm Beach and there was always protesters. It's funny now when I look back and think how I was taught these people were demon possessed. In reality they probably were abused by the WT.
Though I wouldn't protest, I definitely understand those that do. I think social media is a better avenue then holding signs.

Suicide Prevention Counseling
by MrCellophane inin the 1980's when i was an elder, i don't remember the society providing any guidance to elders on suicide prevention counseling.
i realize much has changed since then.
can any current/recent elders update me on what the current position of the local elders would be if approached by someone in the congregation contemplating suicide and seeking help?.

Interesting old letters. I wonder how many other older letters from the 80's and 90's are floating out there to prove them the liars they are. I think it is so important to have as many high ranking JW giving testimony under oath. Then perhaps later on they can be tried for perjury. -

TV.JW.ORG (September 2015) - Generation explained again
by Designer Stubble inguess the overlapping generation concept is difficult for most to comprehend.
david spane does his best to explain it again.
the cutoff date for this generation has now moved to 1992 (was once 1935), the year that fred franz died.

Could you imagine trying to explain this to a non-jw at a door.
I would be so embarrassed trying to unravel this non-sense. Does it make sense that God requires you to have a flow chart to grasp a teaching?

He kinda of digs them in a hole. At 12:10 he explains that anyone anointed later on wouldn't be part of "this" generation. Basically once him and the other GB die off the end must come. That still gives them 30+ year maybe more. But when 2035+ comes around they will adjust it again and all the new ones born in won't know about this broadcast.

How can anyone be a regular reader of JW Talk it is so nauseating. No discourse, no real debate, and so much fakes. It seems each one is trying to out do the other in kissing the pinky ring of their demi-gods GBs.
Some Quotes from posters at JW Talk:
So...my doctor said I need to exercise and get my heart rate up. I told him he should check my heart rate on the first Sunday evening of each month... I get so excited waiting for the broadcast!
On the first monday of every month, I almost DDOS jw.org because of the number of time I check for the link, haha.
Love the way Bro Splane (he always explains -splanes- things so well) what 'this generation' means. Very clear.I really like how often Bro Splane says "Lets suppose", "For the sake of argument", "assume". It shows me that we can draw logical conclusions based on limited facts and not be guilty of speculation..
It's here !!!!!!!!!! Superb talk about the "GENERATION".

Do you find it hard to be around active JW's now?
by EdenOne ini do - actually, it's become close to unbearable.. and herein lies the paradox: i tried to fade in the illusion that i might keep contact with family and friends still "in".
was it worth it?
because not only most of them shun me anyways, but i find it almost unbearable to be around them, especially when the cult chit chat kicks in: every cute animal video clip triggers endless comments about glimpses of the future paradise and how "god did it"; those greasy praises to the organization and the governing body; the dumb awe about every jw broadcast and those cheesy music videos; the endless drivel against other religions when one knows perfectly well that we're no better than them; the endless flow of "experiences" of field service or spectacular conversions into "the truth"; the relentless congregation gossip; and so on .... i ask myself: is this why i am fading for ...?

When I left in 1996 I still had some contact with the ones within my age range. But it was easy because they all left with the exception of one person. I would attend a meeting here and there till 2001 and then I decided even minimal contact was too much for me. The only one I associate with on a regular basis is my mom and sister, which neither are your typical witness. They simply believe and obey most of the religion's restrictions.
I had a brief moment of association last year and found the witnesses to be more over the top than what I can recall from my youth.
